| Lisa Raymond
Lisa Raymond has dedicated her career to improving the lives of others through direct assistance, advocacy and program development, and has over 16 years of experience in the field of education. She attended public school in Connecticut and Indiana and first moved to the District in 1993. Ms. Raymond has worked for various public policy and direct service organizations, including the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Urban Institute, focusing on the areas of family violence, child welfare, poverty and women's health.
Ms. Raymond currently serves as Deputy National Director for America's Edge, a nonprofit organization that engages business leaders in education advocacy, with a focus on Illinois, New York and Washington, DC. She is also a member of the pre-K for All DC Board of Directors. As one of the original leaders of the Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy, Raymond served as the school's first public policy director and chief operating officer.
Ms. Raymond has taught and volunteered in schools in the District, New York City, Israel and England. She has served also as a consultant to schools and nonprofit organizations. She received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Indiana University and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. She lives on Capitol Hill with her husband, Joshua, and her twins, who attend Peabody.
