Dotti Love Wade
Ward 1
Dotti Love Wade is a native Washingtonian and a lifelong resident of Ward One. She attended all Ward One DC Public Schools. Throughout her career, Wade worked with programs that directly benefited children and families: US Department of Labor, Division of Youth Services; Office of Economic Opportunity, Job Corps; and Training, Research & Development Corporation specializing in developing training programs for youth nationwide.
Wade’s deep and abiding passion for children guides her commitment to programs and policies which affect the education of children and teens in the Washington, DC public and charter schools. As an advocate for parents, she works with PTA’s and parent groups to increase their involvement to strengthen student achievement through at-home and in-school support.
Wade is a retired Public Administrator and has served as a community activist throughout the city for over five decades. She is the recipient of the Mayor’s Meritorious Service Award and the “Dotti Love Wade Day” Resolution in Washington, DC for lifetime dedication and achievement in community services. She has received special recognition and numerous citations from the District and Federal Governments.
Wade was the 2-term chairman of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1A and the Single Member District Commission for 1A-11. She served 8 years as an ANC Commissioner and has worked in obtaining resources and funding for Ward One public schools and community groups serving youth. She also has served as a mentor to children in Ward One schools during the past 30 years.
Dotti and Keith, her husband of 45 years, have lived at their home in Columbia Heights for 34 years. They have two daughters: Andrea (Michael) and Katrina (Amin) and two grandchildren – Keith and Jazmyne.
