Deborah Dantzler Williams is Head of School at Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School (ITDPCS), was a member of the Founding Group when the school was granted its Charter in 2010 and Executive Director at the time of the school’s opening for the 2011-2012 school year. Deborah has taught at the elementary, secondary and university levels and directed teaching and learning in Washington area schools. Prior to leading ITDPCS, Deborah was Director of Strategic Partnerships at Center for Inspired Teaching and served on the faculty for the Center's Teacher Certification Program.
Under Deborah's leadership ITDPCS has been recognized by the DC Public Charter School Board as one of the top performing charter schools in the city, was designated among the first Changemaker Schools by Ashoka making the school part of the Changemaker Schools Network, a global community of leading schools that prioritize the cultivation of empathy, teamwork, leadership, and changemaking in their students. In recognition of Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School’s successful implementation of 21st century learning practices ITDPCS was named an Exemplar School by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning.
Deborah holds two degrees from Howard University, the Master of City Planning from the School of Architecture and Planning and a B.A. from the Honors Program. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Organization and Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, where Deborah was a Fellow in the inaugural cohort of the Leadership Academy of the Klingenstein Center.
