Suzanne Wells has had a child attending DCPS continuously since 1997. She has served in various parent leadership positions at the Capitol Hill Cluster School, Tyler Elementary School, and Eliot-Hine Middle School. In 2005, she founded the Capitol Hill Public Schools Parent Organization (CHPSPO) as a way to promote greater cooperation among the parent organizations among the schools on Capitol Hill. CHPSPO now includes member schools from across Ward 6. In 2007 and 2008, she co-chaired the School Libraries Project which was a unique partnership between DCPS and the Capitol Hill Community Foundation to renovate eight elementary and middle school libraries. She has testified on a variety of public education issues before the DC Council, the DC Council Education Subcommittee, the State Board of Education, and the Public Charter School Board. She retired in 2016, after a 33-year career at the Environmental Protection Agency.
