Washington, DC-- As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread globally, the State Board is taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our members, staff, and public. Guidance from the mayor recommends that non-essential gatherings be postponed or canceled and has encouraged agencies to adjust their operating status to permit telework and social distancing if possible.
Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the Offices of the State Board, Ombudsman for Public Education, and Student Advocate will be shifting to telework immediately. The Ombudsman and Student Advocate will also be shifting any required meetings with parents and schools to phone or video conference until further notice. We will remain available via email or by phone.
The State Board will also postpone its March 18th public meeting until April 22.
