Mark Jones (Ward 5)

Mark Jones is a business owner, community advocate, proud husband and father. Mark has deep roots in the District of Columbia. He is the son of the late Rev. L.B. Jones Senior, longtime pastor of the Springfield Baptist Church, located in the Shaw community. His brother is Rev. L.B. Jones II of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Mark is the owner and president of M. Jones Companies, an organization that focuses on telecommunications and financial consulting. Previously, he has also served our city as the Deputy Chief of Staff, in the Executive Office of the Mayor under Mayor Anthony Williams. Mark also served as the Deputy Director of the DC Lottery under Mayor Marion Barry and Mayor Anthony Williams.

Mark has also worked in private industry as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. His service to the community even spans into Prince George's County, where he consults the Prince George's Economic Development and Housing & Redevelopment Authorities.

Mark has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, as well as several national investment securities and state law licenses such as: Series 3, Series 7, Series 24, Series 63, and Series 65 licenses.

Mark has two children currently in District of Columbia Public Schools and one child who graduated from Banneker Academic High School who currently attends the University of Pittsburgh. Mark is also a proud member of the Bunker Hill PTA.
