How Do I Enroll?

The District provides free education to all DC students through the traditional school system (DCPS) and the public charter school system. Parents can apply to traditional public schools within their boundary, DCPS alternative schools, and some public charter schools by contacting the school directly.

DCPS Enrollment Information

Below are links to information about how to enroll in DCPS. DCPS provides information on enrolling under the following enrollment situations: in-boundary and out-of-boundary, non-resident,  Pre-K3/Pre-K4, selective high school, military, and non-traditional enrollment and transfers.

DCPS Non-traditional, Alternative, and Transfer Student Placement

There are also additional schools that students can be placed at based on their individual needs, such as Twilight Academies, Stay/ Programs  that may meet your additional needs. For more information about these programs and for help in identifying appropriate placement, contact DCPS Student Placement by phone at (202) 939-2004 or by email at [email protected].

DC Charter Schools Enrollment Information

  • Visit MySchoolDC (for paricipating public charter schools)
