Washington, DC—The DC State Board of Education (SBOE) will hold its monthly public meeting on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 5:30 pm in the Old Council Chambers on the ground floor of 441 Fourth St. NW.
In commemoration of Black History Month, the State Board of Education has been honoring the legacy of influential black individuals whom schools in the District are named after, through our social media channels. The State Board will recognize the contributions of historical black individuals with a ceremonial resolution.
The State Board will also receive testimony from a panel on the importance of community budget priorities. Representatives from the Coalition for DC Public Schools (C4DC), Parents Amplifying Voices in Education (PAVE), the DC Policy Center, and the DC Policy Center will weigh in on how District resources should be used to support public education. The State Board will use this feedback to facilitate discussion with the Mayor’s Administration and DC Council in the fiscal year 2021 budget process. Members of the public can sign up to testify at budget hearings, including for the State Board, on the DC Council website.
