Cathy Reilly is the Executive Director of the Senior High Alliance of Parents, Principals and Educators (S.H.A.P.P.E) which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in February. Her work with SHAPPE has supported thoughtful engagement among the high school communities with the entities that affect DCPS secondary students and schools. SHAPPE engages in monthly meetings at a different high school which inform advocacy on policy, budget and constructive solutions.
She is also a founding member of the Ward 4 Education Alliance and provides them staff support. The Ed Alliance meets monthly in a different Ward 4 DCPS school and advocates on issues including capital funding, dual language opportunity, and appropriate support for ELL and Special education students.
Ms. Reilly’s three children all attended and graduated from DCPS. Her husband taught in DCPS at the high school level for 17 years. She served on the Credit Flexibility Task force as well as the DC Advisory Committee on Student Assignment. She also served on the DCPS Dual Enrollment Weighted Grade Working Group. She has also served as a PTA President and LSAT community and parent member.
Originally from northwest Indiana, Ms. Reilly has resided in the District of Columbia since 1967 and attended the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She has been an educator for 25 years and works in an early education center in Northwest D.C.
