Larry R. Greenhill, Sr., has been a member of Local Union 26 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 45 years. After graduating high school, he served four years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Greenhill was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Thereafter, he worked two years for the Potomac Electric Power Company before applying for and being accepted into Local 26’s four-year apprenticeship program. After graduation, he worked in the field as a Journeyman Electrician for five years. In 1979, Mr. Greenhill was hired by the apprenticeship program as an Assistant Director, in charge of Minority Recruitment. In 1985, he became Acting Training Director. He served in that position until 1989, when he was appointed Training Director. In 1997, Mr. Greenhill accepted a position with the Union as a Union Representative. In 1998, Mr. Greenhill ran for union office and became Chairman of Local 26’s Examining Board, where he served two years before being appointed to the Executive Board. After serving a term as Chairman of the Executive Board, Mr. Greenhill was appointed to the position of Vice President of the Union, the position he currently holds.
Mr. Greenhill serves as a Trustee on a joint Labor Management Committee (LMC). He serves on the Prince George’s and Tri-Counties Workforce Development Boards. Mr. Greenhill is currently Deputy Treasurer of the Maryland Democratic Party.
