Social Studies Standards Revision

The State Board, in partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), has begun its review and update of the District’s social studies standards.

Get to Know Your State Board Members

There are nine members on the DC State Board of Education who are elected by voters within the District. Board members’ terms are four years and are staggered so no more than five board members are selected in any one election.

Latest SBOE Resolutions

The State Board is responsible for approving state-level regulations, including state academic standards and District high school graduation requirements. An independent agency, the SBOE advises OSSE on all educational matters.

Student-Led Health Education Standards Town Hall for High School Youth

The DC Health Education Standards have been rewritten, and we are looking for high school students to review these new standards. This review session will be led by teens in the DC public school system and the SBOE Student Representatives.

Where: The Young Women's Project; 2217 14th St NW 2nd Floor

When: March 17th from 5-7pm
