Thursday, June 13, 2013

Contact: Jesse B Rauch, Executive Director (202) 741-0884

Washington, DC – As the Office of the State Superintendent of Education prepares revisions to LEA report cards, the District of Columbia State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold a public meeting to hear input on what should be included in the revised LEA report cards. LEA report cards provide important information to parents, the public, educators, community members, researchers, and others about schools in the District. They also contain the accountability information to encourage transparency in the public education system. The State Board is responsible for approving the format and content of the LEA report cards.

The State Board is also scheduling a vote on rulemaking pertaining to compulsory attendance (DCMR Title 5, Chapter 21A, Compulsory Education and School Attendance).

The public meeting will occur on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 5:30 pm in the Old Council Chambers (1st Floor) of 441 4th Street NW. All students, parents, and educators, and community members are invited to provide testimony.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to comment at the meeting are asked to notify DCSBOE staff in advance by phone at (202) 741-0888 or by email at [email protected] and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business the Monday prior to the meeting. They should also bring fifteen (15) copies of their written statements with them to the meeting and are encouraged to submit one (1) electronic copy in advance.

The meeting will air live on District Knowledge Network (DKN) Comcast Channel 99, RCN Channel 18, and Fios Channel 12.
