(Washington, DC) – The DC State Board of Education (SBOE) joins the Mayor and community in recognizing the dedication and hard work of outgoing DC Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Kaya Henderson who announced her departure today effective September 30, 2016.
Chancellor Henderson led DCPS with a strong vision to provide quality education throughout the District. Though much remains to be done, her leadership has pushed DCPS forward.
The State Board looks forward to working with Mayor Bowser to ensure that the next chancellor maintains and improves upon the progress we have made during Chancellor Henderson’s tenure on items such as high school credit flexibility, which the State Board approved earlier this year.
We want to thank John Davis for agreeing to serve as interim chancellor and look forward to our continued collaboration with him and the DCPS team.
