State Board of Education Schedules Working Session to Discuss Proposed Emergency Rule Regarding State-Issued Diplomas

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Contact: Jack Jacobson, President, Phone: (202) 741-0888

The District of Columbia State Board of Education (State Board) will hold a working session to discuss a proposed emergency rule that would allow the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to award diplomas to students attending OSSE-managed schools. The proposed emergency rule amends Title 5-E DCMR § 2202 by adding a subsection that establishes a state high school diploma to be issued by the State Superintendent of Education.

The State Board will also be introduced to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Community Action Team within the Office of Family and Public Engagement.

Finally, there will be a short briefing by State Board staff on Financial Disclosure Statements that Board members and key staff are required to submit them by May 15, 2015.

The working session will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 4:30 pm at 441 4th Street NW, Room 1114.

While working sessions are open to the public, individuals and representatives of organizations are not permitted to speak or participate during the working session. However, individuals and representatives of organizations may submit written testimony for consideration by the Board. Written testimony may also be submitted by email at [email protected].
