State Board to Hold Three Meetings in July on ESSA, Community Concerns

(Washington, DC) - In order to continue its work on important statewide education issues in the District, the DC State Board of Education (SBOE) will be holding three meetings during the month of July. First, the SBOE will hold a Working Session on July 13, 2016 to discuss a number of important items. The meeting will begin at 4:30 pm at 441 4th Street, NW, Room 1114, Washington, DC 20001.

The working session is open to the public. However, individuals and representatives of organizations are not permitted to speak or participate during the working session. Individuals and representatives of organizations may submit written testimony for consideration by the Board. Written testimony may also be submitted by email at [email protected].

Second, the State Board will hold a Public Meeting on July 20, 2016 in the Old Council Chambers, 441 4th Street, NW beginning at 5:30 pm. Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to comment at a public meeting are asked to notify Board staff in advance by phone at (202) 741-0888 or by email at [email protected]. Individuals should provide their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business the Monday prior to the meeting and bring fifteen (15) copies of their written statements with them to the meeting and are encouraged to submit one (1) electronic copy in advance.

Finally, the State Board will be meeting in closed session on July 27 at 4:30 pm to discuss administrative items, pursuant to the Open Meetings Act (D.C. Code § 2-575).
