D.C. State Board to Consider STAR Framework Recommendations

Washington, D.C.—The D.C. State Board of Education (SBOE) will hold its monthly public meeting on Wednesday, January 19, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread globally, the State Board is taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our members, staff, and public. The State Board had hoped to provide this public meeting in a hybrid form where members of the public could participate in-person or virtually.

Outreach and Advocacy Committee Meeting

This committee meeting will be an opportunity for members to discuss key issues and focus areas that the State Board has identified as priorities. The discussions will provide members the opportunity to share thoughts, recommendations, and next steps for the SBOE.

The Student Advisory Committee holds its committee meeting. Please contact [email protected] for the joining information. During SY2021–22, meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Monday of every month, with the exception of July and August. Beginning SY2022–23, meetings are only held on the second Monday of every month, with the exception of October due to Indigenous People's Day.

To My D.C. State Board of Education Family,

I do not know where to begin. Typically expressing my thoughts and emotions through words has been my thing on the State Board. But I can’t lie, figuring out how to say this has been a struggle. I guess what I am trying to say is that words cannot describe everything the past two and a half years on the Board has meant to me, and I know this letter will probably not do me full justice. But I will try anyway.
